Keeping up with the Nissan GT-R supercar — the 575hp twin-turbo all-wheel-drive monster nicknamed “Godzilla” — is no easy task. Nissan wanted to take advantage of the dynamic aerial cinematography capabilities of a drone camera platform to showcase the GT-R, but unfortunately they couldn’t find one fast enough. So they built their own — enlisting the help of World Drone Prix champions Tornado XBlades Racing. The GT-R drone sports four 2000kV XNova motors powered by a 1400mah Lithium Polymer 6s battery. That’s enough thrust to propel the little quad to 62mph (100km/h) in a scorching 1.3 seconds — roughly twice as fast as the car, which is one of the quickest road cars ever built. Then they set up this course at the famed Silverstone racing circuit in England — home of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. Factory Nissan driver Ricardo Sanchez lined up against British National Drone Racing champ James Bowles and played catch-me-if-you-can. The drone kept up just fine, thank you very much.
