Ready Set Drone

Tonight I'll be on with Sean Ozz talking about the X Knight 360 - also known as the "Invisible Drone". As you might know, Sean is an expert with 360 cameras and this drone uses a Insta360 ONE-R 360 camera to capture images without seeing the quad at all. The footage is amazing. This RC bird is a marvel of technology. With some practice you can control it very well. It has an infrared sensor on the nose to help avoid obstacles, can fly automated patterns and stays in the air for a long time on one battery. I honestly had very low expectations for this toy, but have found it to be a blast to fly. In this video I demonstrate outdoor flight, indoor flight, and flight in wind.

If you fly drones professionally or like to fly FPV with a group of friends, a wireless communication system is an interesting addition to the experience. The Hollyland Mars T1000 includes a base station that can be run off AC or DC (battery) power, 4 remote transmitter/receivers and 5 headsets! It's very well built with most components made of metal (vs plastic) and works really well for flying drones with a group. This video includes an unboxing of the T1000 as well as showing how we used it in a real life scenario for flying FPV with a group. The system allowed us to talk to each other while flying, which gave us immediate information about where each of us was flying, what was going on around the flight area, and general trash talking.
This system is not cheap, but if you are looking for a way to up your flying experience, it's worth a look!

I have also been using the Hollyland Mars T1000 for live streams in my company's office/studio and for drone video shoots where I need to have close communication with a visual observer. If you are a professional drone pilot or FPV addict, this system is a very cool addition for clients and will definitely impress your friends!

Tonight I'll be joined by DocMurdoc (AKA Chris Haley) who has been building and flying drones for longer than anyone else I know. Doc is a manned aircraft pilot and has read all 400+ pages of the FAA Remote ID document and sees some good, some bad and some ugly implications for our hobby. He will break down the major components of Remote ID help us understand how this may (and probably will) impact how we fly starting in September 2023 - when everything will go into full effect for manufacturers and pilots - both hobby and Part 107.
I know that these regulations can seem confusing and way off in the future, but they are coming fast and the best thing we can do is get educated.

Earlier today I put out a video about the Master Airscrew propellers for the DJI Mavic Air 2. The video focused on the reduced noise that these aftermarket props produce, which is a good thing. I had used them a few times and had not noticed any problems with vibration. But thanks to the comments, I was made aware that when the Master Airscrew props idle on a flat, hard surface, the entire drone shakes and moves. I had only taken off from soft surfaces like grass and my portable landing pad. So I had to give it a try to see if this happened to me as well. The results are in this video.

As with many of us in the drone community, I've been a fan of Master Airscrew props for a while. I'm hoping that the issue with the Mavic Air 2 props will be corrected.
