Here is a Youtube video that caught our eye. This new Hoversurf scorpion-3 is a new personal flying bike. The hoverbike uses custom-built software that limits its range and velocity in order to assure a safe ride, the company says that the Scorpion’s design was “inspired by heavy-duty sport-utility motorbike frames”. On their website, the description of the Hoverbike states:
SCORPION platform is a single-seat aircraft that rediscovers the art of flying and hovering enabling a hi-tech quadcopter-based solution. It’s a unique electric-powered vessel combining a motorcycle seat with quadcopter drone technology bringing speed agility and stability of flight to the hands of amateur and professional navigators. For the moment, SCORPION platform is increasingly seen as an extreme sports instrument, yet the vessel’s transportation potential remains evident.
But the one comment under the video on YouTube says it all, and this is exactly what we were thinking:
If you have great insurance, hate your legs and like today’s prosthetic limbs, this is right for you!
The other question that comes to mind, is why do you test something like this in a warehouse with all kinds of obstacles around?
Now if you are worried about safety, well not to worry. On the website, the manufacturer assures us that:
The SCORPION platform is equipped with a safety system powered by state of the art flight controllers, special logical programing and passive elements with computer aided speed and altitude limiting.
And there is this photo that shows the riders safety suit:
