As the use of drone technology continues to mature, many commercial and industrial companies are offering services not available any other way. Whether it’s a construction project or an existing structure or building needing visual inspection, drones have become invaluable for saving time, money, and manpower.

“Drone technology is now fully integrated into all of our services, and guarantees increased quality and efficiency without breaking the bank,” says Adam Frumkin, project manager at Kipcon Engineering. A consulting firm with 30 years of experience in the residential and commercial markets, Kipcon specializes in structural and civil inspections and design specifications, as well as Reserve Studies. Striving to stay on the cutting edge in their industry, the company recognized early on that drones were the future for engineering work.

“Our main drone services include roof inspections—both sloped and flat—as well as facade inspections, thermal imaging to detect water infiltration behind building envelopes, aerial mapping for surveys, and documenting construction progress,” says Frumkin. “We use the DJI Inspire and Matrice series of drones. As for the cameras, we use the Zenmuse series for visual inspections, as well as FLIR cameras for thermal inspection imaging. Not a ‘one drone fits all’ company, our services make it easy to accomplish building inspections and thermal imaging to check and compare to specifications, and then to put together detailed surveys.”
